Kenya Data Protection Act training

Kenya Data Protection Act training for your staff

Online training that helps every employee who touches personal data apply the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 in their daily work. HR, finance, customer service, sales, IT and front office teams learn what lawful processing looks like and what to do when something goes wrong.

Policies alone do not make an organisation compliant. Most data protection failures happen at a desk: a customer list emailed to the wrong person, a file kept long after it was needed, a request ignored. Training the people at those desks is how compliance becomes habit.

What your staff will learn

  • The principles of the Act: lawful, fair and transparent processing, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy and storage limits
  • When consent is needed and when another lawful basis applies
  • How to recognise and pass on a data subject request for access, correction or deletion
  • What counts as a personal data breach and why the 72 hour notice clock to the Data Commissioner means reporting it internally at once
  • Safe handling of sensitive personal data, such as health, biometric and financial information
  • When a new system or project needs a Data Protection Impact Assessment

Why train everyone, not only the DPO

The ODPC can fine controllers and processors up to KES 5 million or 1% of the previous year's annual turnover, whichever is lower, and its enforcement decisions are published. Showing that staff were trained, and when, is part of demonstrating that the organisation took appropriate measures.

Every learner who completes the course gets a certificate with a unique ID, so you have a record of who was trained that anyone can verify.

How team training works

  • Register your organisation and add your staff
